Old English, from wyrd, "fate, destiny, that which comes to pass." Root of the modern word "weird." The personal fate or destiny of an individual, often depicted in Norse and Anglo-Saxon myth as a thread spun, measured, and cut by forces beyond one's control.
Old English wefta, from wefan, "to weave." The horizontal threads woven across the fixed vertical threads (the warp) on a loom, interlacing to form cloth. The element that turns raw structure into finished fabric.
Clothing made at a point where fate and fabric cross. Every piece starts with a story, usually an old one, the kind passed down, half forgotten, and still somehow true.
Long before, people wove meaning into cloth on purpose. Patterns meant something. A garment could mark a warrior, a mourner, a bride, a wanderer. Somewhere along the way, clothing stopped saying anything at all. Each collection pulls from folklore, superstition, and the kind of history that gets left out of textbooks: omens, curses, half-true legends, the stories told to explain what couldn't otherwise be explained like old ideas cut into new shapes.
This is clothing for the strange and the obscure.

Depending on your location, whether local (Sri Lanka) or international, WYRD & WEFT selects couriers based on affordability and reliability rather than brand name, to keep shipping costs reasonable relative to your order value.
